Wellness class send PSA’s to local Elementary students
Kettering College works daily to exemplify our core values in the community. The nursing department has found new ways to encourage local youth through Innovation, Caring, Competence, and Collaboration. Over the past year, the Kettering College wellness class has led many efforts to serve the community in many ways. Volunteering at local hospitals, non-profits and sharing health and wellness public service announcements to youth.
Dr. Cynthia Hammond, professor of nursing at Kettering College has facilitated the distribution of the videos to local superintendents. Currently there are over 40 PSA’s that have either been distributed or will be released soon. The videos, specifically created for grades K-8, cover a wide variety of topics to promote overall positive well-being.
The KC nursing department believes health promotion for elementary school age children as a supplement to teaching wholistic health care could encourage students as they become teens and young adults to adopt healthy habits.
