Kettering College Receives Grant from Virginia W. Kettering Foundation

Kettering, Ohio (July 1) – Kettering College of Medical Arts president Charles Scriven announced Tuesday that the school has been awarded a $100,000 grant from the Virginia W. Kettering Foundation. The grant will be used to purchase additional equipment for the new Anna May Vaughan Center for Nursing Education, which opened in January.

Nursing skills lab coordinator Peggy Allyn said the program plans to purchase updated patient beds and intensive care beds, both with special air mattresses and bed scales, for the lab. They also will add new intravenous pumps, simulators for electrocardiogram training, and feeding pumps. All of this equipment will allow the program to expose its students to the latest technology and to refine the students’ simulated clinical opportunities.

“Peggy Allyn and clinical instructor Donna Moore worked very hard to assist me in compiling the information we needed to apply for this grant,” said Cherie Rebar, chair of the Associate of Science in nursing program. “They are amazing employees and representatives of the college. Without them, applying for and obtaining this grant would never have been possible.”

“Kettering Medical Center Foundation leaders and our own nursing program faculty put a great deal of effort into securing this grant,” said Scriven. “It is an exciting moment for all of us, and I am proud and pleased to be able to report this success.”

Kettering Foundation. The Foundation supports charitable activities in Montgomery and contiguous counties.
