Kettering College Program Awarded National Ranking
KETTERING, Ohio, October 24, 2016 – Kettering College’s Sonography program is ranked in the Top 25 for best ultrasound technician schools in the United States in 2016.
The ranking comes from College Choice and their criteria are based on college freshman polled during a nationwide survey. The students rated academic reputation, financial aid offerings, overall cost of school, and took into account graduate success rates into the post-college job market.
“It’s an honor to be ranked in the top 25 sonography programs in the US out of the 213 accredited programs,” said Susan Price, professor and director of the Medical Sonography Program.
The Bachelor of Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography at Kettering College is one of the most comprehensive ultrasound programs in the country because it specializes in four different concentrations: abdominal, vascular, obstetrics/gynecology and echocardiography sonography.
In 2015, Kettering College’s sonography program saw a 97 percent board pass rate and a 95 percent job placement rate. The Bureau of Labor and Statistics projects over a 40 percent growth in the profession by 2020, with over 20,000 new jobs added to the field.
The sonography program at Kettering College was also ranked as a top 10 program in the nation for Top Schools for Ultrasound and Sonography by Study.com in 2016. The bachelor’s degree requires 133 credit hours and a clinical externship for graduation. Unlike other colleges, Kettering College doesn’t require the student to take their pre-requisites on-campus. Only 20 students are accepted into the sonography program each fall, which gives the students an intimate and hands-on learning environment.
