Kettering College prepares for 46th commencement
On Saturday, April 26, Kettering College will confer degrees and certificates on 317 students at the school’s 46th annual commencement ceremonies. The event will be held at the Dayton Convention Center, starting at 8 p.m., and is open to the public. Lisa Clark Diller, chair of the Department of History at Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, Tenn., and board member for the One Project, will be the keynote speaker.
College president Nate Brandstater will grant 114 Associate of Science (A.S.) degrees in the following areas: nursing (77), radiologic technology (23) and respiratory care (14). Three certificates of completion in computed tomography and one in magnetic resonance imaging also will be granted. This ceremony marks the graduation of the college’s final group of associate degree nurses, as that program has been discontinued.
A total of 159 bachelor’s degrees will be awarded, including 92 to graduates of the Bachelor of Science in nursing. Twenty-seven Bachelor of Science in diagnostic medical sonography degrees and 25 Bachelor of Science in human biology degrees will be presented. Fifteen Bachelor of Science in health sciences degrees will be granted in the following specialties: health care management (9), respiratory care (3), advanced imaging (2) and health care education (1).
Also notable will be the commencement of 40 students from the school’s graduate program, the Master of Physician Assistant Studies.
Sixteen of the graduating students will receive special recognition as members of the Vaughan-Beaven Service Learning Honors Program. These honors graduates are Christina Arnett (nursing), Nora Basanez (nursing), Megan Bonk (human biology), Christopher Burns (human biology), Gissel Chujutalli (human biology), Veronica Homan (nursing), Merlyn Hutton (human biology), Cherri Kindred (respiratory care), Kenneth M. Kirkham (nursing), Jennifer Mauer (human biology), Alison Ogilvie (nursing), Jilnette Scarth (diagnostic medical sonography), Megan Thomas (nursing), Sarah Tipton (nursing), Luke Williamson (human biology) and Kathleen Yeary (human biology).
