Professor Schoun earned his Bachelor of Science in Biophysics from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan in 1980. Later that summer he married Judy Kenline in Oregon where he worked as a logger for his father-in-law. That fall he returned to Andrews University to begin a Master of Science in Biology with a concentration in animal physiology. Daniel accepted an invitation to teach science and mathematics at Spring Valley Academy in the fall of 1982. Returning to Andrews University for summer terms, he finished his MS: In biology in 1988. He continued teaching at SVA until 1999 when he was offered a position in the Science and Mathematics Department at Kettering College. Professor Schoun earned a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering: Medical Imaging from Wright State in 2009. He was the Coordinator of the Human Biology major from 2007-2018 when he was appointed the Director of Academic Advising for Kettering College. Dan and Judy are both part-time intermittent employees of the Department of Health and Human Services as members of a Disaster Medical Assistance Team. Dan was deployed to New York City for the 9-11 attack in 2001 and returned to NYC in 2012 for “Super-Storm Sandy”. He was also a certified volunteer FireFighter/EMT with Sugarcreek Township Fire Department from 1998-2006. Daniel and Judy Schoun have two married children and three grandchildren who both love to talk about and share photos with anyone who will listen. They love to travel around the United States and internationally. Professor Schoun is both a Revolutionary War reenactor and a Civil War reenactor. His garden and woodworking are ways to recharge his energy after long days of academic work
