Kettering College & Kettering Medical Center to Hold Full-Scale Active Shooter Training Exercise
KETTERING, Ohio, May 19, 2017 – Kettering College and Kettering Medical Center are holding a full-scale exercise on Sunday, May 21 starting at from 8 a.m until noon. This is one of the largest exercises of its kind to be held in the Dayton area. The exercise is primarily intended to assess medical response to a mass casualty incident involving elements of terrorism and an active shooter incident. This event will also benefit Kettering College in assessing their emergency preparedness during crisis situations.
Agencies participating in the mass casualty exercise include Kettering Police, Fire, and Dispatch and other areas EMS and law enforcement, as well as the Greater Dayton Area Hospital Association, the Southwest Ohio Regional Trauma System, and the Dayton Metropolitan Medical Response System.
As part of the exercise, gun shots, an explosion, and other loud noises may be heard near the college and the hospital sometime between 10:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. The exercise is expected to conclude around noon. Kettering College is located at 3737 Southern Blvd. next to Kettering Medical Center in Kettering.
