Mass Casualty Emergency Preparedness Exercise
Kettering College and Kettering Medical Center are holding a full-scale mass casualty emergency preparedness exercise on Sunday, May 21. Activities will take place on Kettering College’s campus from 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. The exercise will continue at the Kettering Medical Center campus from approximately 10:30 a.m. until noon. As one of the largest exercises in the Dayton area, it is intended to assess emergency procedures and medical responses to a mass casualty incident involving elements of terrorism and an active shooter incident.
As part of the exercise, gun shots, an explosion, and other loud noises may be heard near the college and hospital sometime between 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. You may hear similar noises around 7:30 a.m. as the team prepares for the exercise to start. You will receive text or email notifications during this event, but they should all begin with “This is an exercise message” so you are aware this is only a drill. You will not need to take part in any specific procedures during this exercise. We simply want to make sure you are aware that it is happening so that you can stay clear of the area in which the exercise is taking place on campus.
When sharing information with anyone about this event, please let them know that it is only an exercise and assure them that the college remains a safe place.
If you have questions before the event, contact Nicholas Henson. If you have any questions during the event on Sunday, May 21, please reach out to the Kettering Medical Center security dispatch at (937) 395-8695.
