New Dean for Academic Affairs Joins Kettering College

Loren Agrey, PhD, has joined Kettering College as the Dean for Academic Affairs of Kettering College. Agrey was previously the President of Asia-Pacific International University, which is located in Thailand. In 2005, Agrey graduated with his PhD in Education from the University of Alberta. Dr. Agrey believes that his doctorate degree allowed him to transition to university administration from working as a teacher and administrator in the K-12 Adventist system.

Since completing his PhD studies, Loren Agrey has served as the Vice President for Academic Administration at Canadian University College and the President of Asia-Pacific University. He stated that he chose Kettering College because of its “excellence, the forward-thinking vision and mission, and the excellent cadre of educational and administrative professionals.”

With Dr. Agrey’s arrival, Kettering College will almost have a completely new administration team. Ruth Abbott, PhD, recently joined Kettering College in January of 2015 as the other Dean for Academic Affairs. Dr. Abbott is a doctoral-prepared nurse with a background in public speaking, product development, leadership, and business. In 2001, Ruth graduated from Andrews University with her PhD in Higher Education; Nursing. Dr. Abbott has served as a Director of Nursing at Kellogg Community College, Professor of Nursing at Andrews University, and the Vice President of Nursing and Health at Corinthian Colleges.

“We are very excited to welcome both Loren and Ruth as the new academic deans for Kettering College,” said Nate Brandstater, Kettering College president. “With their arrival on campus, College faculty, staff and students now have a full administrative team supporting their work, teaching, and learning.”

Dr. Agrey began his duties at Kettering College in early July.
