Kettering College Prepares for 45th Commencement

Kettering, Ohio (April 22) – On Saturday, April 27, Kettering College will confer degrees and certificates on 270 students at the school’s 45th annual commencement ceremonies. The event will be held at the Dayton Convention Center, starting at 8 p.m., and is open to the public. In lieu of a keynote speaker, a special video presentation will highlight the evening.

College president Charles Scriven will grant 141 Associate of Science (A.S.) degrees in the following areas: nursing (104), radiologic technology (24) and respiratory care (13). Two certificates of completion in computed tomography and one in magnetic resonance imaging also will be granted.

A total of 86 bachelor’s degrees will be awarded, including 25 to graduates of the Bachelor of Science in human biology. Twenty-five Bachelor of Science in diagnostic medical sonography degrees and 23 Bachelor of Science in nursing degrees will be presented. Thirteen Bachelor of Science in health professions degrees will be granted in the following specialties: health care management (7), health care education (2), respiratory care (2), advanced imaging (1) and professional studies (1).

Also notable will be the commencement of 41 students from the school’s graduate program, the Master of Physician Assistant Studies.

Six of the graduating students will receive special recognition as members of the Vaughan-Beaven Service Learning Honors Program. These honors graduates are Kris Alavattam (human biology), Kendra Lucas (human biology), Kaylie Snyder (human biology), Rodalyn “Dhin” Soriano (diagnostic medical sonography), Daniel Udrea (human biology) and Katerina Viitala (human biology).

This commencement marks Charles Scriven’s final celebration as Kettering College president. He announced last fall that he will retire this spring after 12 years of service to the college.
