Shawn McDonald to Appear in Free Concert at Kettering College
Kettering, Ohio (Sept. 27) – The Kettering College Office of Spiritual Life is pleased to announce its second free concert of the semester. Christian recording artist Shawn McDonald will appear at Kettering Seventh-day Adventist Church (3939 Stonebridge Rd., Kettering) on Friday, Oct. 7, at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free, and everyone is welcome. A freewill offering will be collected.
McDonald’s fourth album, Closer, was released in March to rave reviews. Most of the songs were penned by McDonald, but he shares several writing credits with Brandon Heath, Joy Williams, Ben Glover, and Josh Garrels. The album is produced by Christopher Stevens (tobyMac, Sanctus Real).
The iTunes review said, “On his fourth album Closer, Shawn McDonald leaves behind the ‘promising newcomer’ label and bids to become a Christian singer/songwriter of the first rank. The songs…reflect the artist’s recent personal upheavals, including a painful divorce. It’s not surprising there are expressions of spiritual struggle here – but what’s more notable is the sense of renewed faith captured in these tracks.” The recent hit, “Rise,” is currently No. 16 on the iTunes Top Christian and Gospel Songs list.
