Graduation application

Regalia and announcement information and order form

Dear Graduate-to-be,

Congratulations on being in the final stages of your degree program. I know that, as you look back, you can remember the challenges you have overcome to get to this point. You have every reason to be proud of being on the threshold of graduation.

We would appreciate knowing how you would like us to handle your preparations for the graduation exercise. Current policy requires all kc graduates to participate in the April commencement ceremony. However, the College does permit individuals for whom participation is difficult to make other arrangements. We especially understand that December graduates often move out of the area and may not be able to return. This letter is a prompt to let us know your preferences.

The 2010 Commencement ceremony will be held at the Dayton Convention Center on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 8 p.m. We would encourage you to make every effort to be in attendance, as this is a significant event in your life and in the life of your family and friends. Few degree programs are ever completed without the support of those who care about us. Further, your presence will make the event a richer experience for us, and we believe that you, like most students, will really love the occasion. However,if you need to forgo the ceremony, you can avoid the graduation-in-absentia fee of $50 by letting me know in writingbeforethe bookstore’s deadline for ordering regalia—which this year isFebruary 19, 2010. Upon receiving your letter, I will respond to you in writing and will notify both the records and finance offices, which should effectively defer the fee.

We at Kettering College of Medical Arts take pride in our graduates, and we want commencement to be a celebratory moment for you, your friends and your family. You can assist us to that end by informing the bookstore personnel how many guests you anticipate to be in attendance on your behalf when you are placing the order for your academic regalia. This will help us to accurately estimate the number of seats to make available.

We are also happy to provide you and your family with a photograph taken as you shake the president’s hand and receive your diploma. In addition, we will offer you the opportunity to have additional pictures taken by the professional photographer, with friends and family, if you wish. You are not required to purchase these pictures. Please let us know in advance if you have interest in this service, as it will assist us with our planning efforts.

The kc faculty and staff look forward to sharing a memorable commencement exercise with you in a few months at the conclusion your formal studies. Please let us know if you have any additional questions regarding graduation. We will do our best to be responsive to your inquiry.

Congratulations and best wishes,

W. G. Nelson, Ed.D.
