Kettering College Nursing Students to Conduct Health Fairs
Kettering, Ohio (Dec. 1) — Nursing students from Kettering College of Medical Arts will conduct health fairs at two area schools on Monday, Dec. 6. The fairs will be held simultaneously at Waynesville High School and Holy Family School from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
The Kettering College students involved are participating in a project that enables them to learn about developmental health education needs of children, while serving the community at the same time. The students will create informational booths that focus on topics related to the population at each school.
Two Kettering College nursing bachelor-completion students Laura Willis and Rebecca Fair are coordinating the full effort, which will include participation of other health-related agencies. Willis and Fair also will assist in grading and evaluating the student booths.
“There is only one nurse at Waynesville for over 1500 students, and Holy Family has a school nurse that visits just twice a week,” said Paula Reams, nursing faculty member and coordinator for the Vaughan/Beaven Service Learning Honors Program at kc. “This is truly serving a need in our community.”
