Kettering College Announces Administrative Changes
Kettering, Ohio (Jan. 19) — Several changes in the Kettering College of Medical Arts wereannounced by college president Dr. Charles Scriven this week. A new administrator has been added to the team, and other administrators will experience a shift in responsibilities.
After serving as the director of enrollment services for many years, David Lofthouse has been named Dean for Enrollment Management. In this expanded role, he will be part of the college's Executive Council and will take oversight responsibility for the residence hall and for most student life functions, as well as recruitment, admissions and public relations.
Moving into a major aspect of academic administration, Dr. Beverly Cobb has been tapped Dean for Students and Learning, relinquishing her previous enrollment services and enrollment management responsibilities to Lofthouse.
In her new role, Dr. Cobb will have responsibility for the advancement of student learning, including student mastery of the college's “Core Competencies.” She also will begin to provide administrative support for leaders of the Learning Resources Center and of academic records, and will be responsible for non-degree curricula, such as the core curriculum and the service-learning honors program.
Under the new arrangement, Dr. Norman Wendth, the Dean for Academic Affairs, continues to beresponsible for degree curricula, for faculty quality and effectiveness, and for external academic relationships.
Growth in both enrollment and academic programs has increased the load in academic administration, and he welcomes Dr. Cobb's partnership in this area.
“In working out this revised arrangement for college leadership, we have tried to address workload, efficiency and effectiveness, and have done our best to strike the right balance among all three,” said Scriven.
Kettering College also has plans to add a chief business officer to the administrative team during the summer.
