Kettering College Creates Scholarship in Memory of Trisha Pons
Kettering, Ohio (April 19) – Kettering College of Medical Arts and its Division of Nursing have created the Trisha Pons Nursing Scholarship, in memory of the 2003 graduate who died in an automobile accident on April 11.
“Her whole life, Trisha bore, with generosity and great aplomb, more than her share of responsibility in this world,” said Dr. Charles Scriven, president of Kettering College. “I knew her myself, both from a class I taught and also from the words and feelings of her colleagues. The accident she was in took a fine friend and a great example of what Kettering College, in partnership with a student who has a dream, can do for the wider world. A scholarship in her honor gets to the core, I think, of what we are about.”
Trisha Pons earned both an associate’s degree and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Kettering College. She was part of the school’s first graduating class in the bachelor’s program in 2003 and was a clinical instructor for the associate’s degree program for three years.
