Kettering College Organizes “Texting for Haiti” Event

Kettering, Ohio (Jan. 22) – Kettering College of Medical Arts faculty, staff and students will gather

in the Boonshoft Center for Medical Sciences on Tuesday, Jan. 26, at 12 p.m. to participate in a “Texting for Haiti” event. The event will allow members of the Kettering College community to show support for earthquake-ravaged Haiti, as everyone texts donations to the Red Cross Relief Fund at the same time.

“Since the devastating earthquake hit Haiti a few days ago, our hearts have been in deep anguish over how to support and help the people of Haiti in this time of catastrophe,” said Kettering College chaplain Clive Wilson, one of the event’s organizers. “This is our way of coming together as an academic community of faith and providing spiritual and financial support to the survivors of the earthquake.”

Organizers have requested that college faculty release students from classes early or allow them to arrive a little late in order for everyone to participate in the event. Participants also have been encouraged to wear Kettering College apparel, as another show of unity.

Official Red Cross collection containers also will be available for those who prefer to donate with cash or checks instead. Light refreshments will be provided for the participants.
