Small Classes at Kettering College Help Students Succeed

Attending college is challenging enough. Kettering College makes it easier by making it personal. Our students enjoy the benefits of small class sizes where the student-to-faculty ratio is 10:1. Here, our students not only know their professors well, but they also know each other well. This tight-knit community helps set students up for success.

The difference at Kettering College is we know you want to succeed, and we surround you with the support to get you there and keep you committed to your goals and work. Time and time again, our students say our small classes and individualized attention helped them succeed, even when they didn’t think they would, or they assumed college might be an unattainable goal.

Research shows smaller class sizes help students thrive, stay focused, and grow confidence. Why?

Individual Attention

Students often give us feedback that they appreciate not being “just another face in crowd.” At Kettering College, you are a real person with real goals and an individual learning style that your professor will understand and consider on an ongoing basis. Professors get to know their students and spend more time and effort on their success. If a student falls behind, our instructors notice and rally around them to see how they can help because our students are our family.

Enhanced Learning

Students who attended a larger university before coming to Kettering College, have attended class in a lecture hall with over 100 other students. They didn’t always feel engaged or part of the discussion. At Kettering College, there are more opportunities to have in-depth discussions, share opinions, and cultivate a confidence that doesn’t come from passive learning in a large lecture hall. Here, you are part of the conversation as you grow towards the professional you want to be.

Accountability

Small classes help our students stay accountable to their goals. Many students transfer here from larger universities where they found it too easy to lose sight of their goals because they weren’t surrounded by support and accountability. Our students say the collaboration with their peers and professors gives them the encouragement they need to keep going. Everyone here roots for each other, and it’s the extra step needed for students to reach their goals and to maintain lifelong friendships and professional networks in their careers once they graduate.

In addition to having small classes, Kettering College offers one-on-one instruction at our Student Success Center (SSC). At the SSC, students receive tutoring in any of their subjects, but they can also gain useful life skills such as time management, organization, and test-taking skills from one of our student success coaches.

Our Campus Ministries program offers guidance and discussion about spirituality and personal development. We believe a successful education means getting to know our students and guiding them through struggles by sitting down with them and helping them become not only the professional they want to be but also the person they want to be.
